Recap: Dreams, Music & Teleprompter Flubs from the Oscars

The oscars were last night and I have to say, I had the funnest time tweeting during the show. I don’t think I’ve ever tweeted that much in a 4 hour window of time.

There were definitely highlights from the show as well as some major flubs.

The Teleprompter
The teleprompter was a disaster. It’s safe to say that at least 50% of the presenters made a mistake. The worst was John Travolta for clearly…

TGIF: I’m Choosing Happiness

Sorry I’ve been MIA for the last week and half.  Last week we were putting the finishing touches on an event that just turned out FABulous.  It was such a high.
I had every intention to blog and blog and blog, but then Monday came around and everything went to h*ll and a handbasket and just continued in a downward spiral.  Ever have one of those weeks and you say – WOW – that was a really bad dream?…

Encouragement: The Norm or Uniqueness

Doing the norm or being unique – that is the question.  Another way to look at it – being safe or taking a risk.  We just finished an event where we made a point of NOT doing the norm.  We were challenged with the same location for the 3rd year in a row and we couldn’t do what we “normally” do.  We had to be different, unique and reinvent.  I’m not going to lie, I was nervous – I wanted my…

Encouragement: We Didn’t Get the Gig

That headline sure doesn’t sound encouraging does it?  The truth is, we didn’t get the gig, but we learned a ton.
Do you get down if you put your all into something and you still don’t get the gig?  Honestly, I did for about 5 minutes and then I picked myself back up, brushed myself off and gave myself a pat on the back.  You know why?  Because we put forth our best effort.
Sure it…

Encouragement: Collaboration

Collaboration.  How many of you collaborate on projects?  Do you think it helps you to be more creative?  Boy I do.  I’m actually collaborating on several projects with someone right now.  Two heads can be better than one – especially when we get on a creativity roll.
I’m still reading Danielle LaPorte’s Fire Starter Sessions – and it’s definitely getting juicy.  I have about a…

Encouragement: Creativity

Have you ever thought, “I have a great idea,” and then you find out that five other people or companies are doing the same thing? Your excitement balloon has just been deflated. But does it really need to be deflated?
I have lots of ideas. My mister can attest to that. I come up with them all the time. My creative juices are flowing, and I think, “Wow, this is the best idea EVER!” Can you relate? Then, I get…

Encouragement: 20 Seconds

Have you ever been scared to do something?  I know I have.  Sometimes fear can be paralizing.  This quote is so true – just 20 seconds of insane courage can change your world.
Are you afraid to do something? Close your eyes and just GO!  Your heart will be beating so fast that you’ll think it could literally pop out of your chest…but 20 seconds later, all done and you’ill feel so much…

Encouragement: How Do You Want to Feel?

Have you heard the saying, “when the student is ready, the teacher will appear?”  I guess I’m ready, because I’m reading a great book right now and it’s really hitting home with me.  It’s called The Fire Starter Sessions: A Soulful + Practical Guide to Creating Success on Your Own Terms by Danielle LaPorte.  I’m about a 1/3rd through the book and one chapter has really stopped and made me…

Encouragement:: Create then Edit

Interesting way to look at it don’t you think?
If scene one has you in a rut – get out of it by scene two.
Enough said!  I’m off to do some editing.

Encouragement:: Perception

Have you looked over someone else’s fence and thought – wow, they have a great life?  Or thought to yourself, that person has their life and career so together?  Then one day, you take a little peek into their world and realize all the grandeur you thought they had, really wasn’t all that.
It was all perception.  It might have been brilliant marketing and branding.  It might have been a…
