Encouragement:: Be Present, Be Brave

When I first saw Jess LC’s new Wells Collection (a collaboration with Ampersand Design Studio), the first print I was drawn to was Dream Bigger.  I was so drawn to it – I ordered it on Tuesday Morning.  Can’t wait for it to arrive so I can frame it, hang it up and be reminded everyday to Dream Bigger.

But, it’s funny how life changes in a split second.  You’re concerned about something, but things are looking up and then all of a sudden – BOOM!  Tuesday afternoon we received some shocking news.  (Please please don’t take your health for granted!)  I’m not ready to share yet as I’m still digesting it, but feel the prints that I desperately need now are these.  Funny, it comes down to 4 little, very powerful words.

I need to be present in the moment and not get caught up in the manusha of life.  Right now, I need to not think about the past or what the future holds.  Just be in this very second, this very moment.  Because truly – life is too short.

I need to be brave.  I’ve always thought of myself as a brave person.  I moved to San Francisco in my 20’s only knowing one person – that was brave.  I’ve tried new things – heck, I even swung on a trapeze (that was crazy brave in my book and super scary).  But this kind of brave, I’ve never been and it’s going to be really hard.

Fast track to Wednesday and it was a scary day for many of my friends that work at Yahoo!.  They laid off 2000 people.  Many of them were shocked, some expected it.  Some are looking at this as a blessing and excited for their next adventure.  Some I’m sure are petrified.  They need to Dream Bigger and Be Brave because I know something amazing is going to come there way.

Please do me a favor today, go and hug your husband, wife, kids, mom, dad, sister, brother, cousin, aunt, uncle, friend, even your pet.  Tell them that you love them, because you never know what curve balls will be thrown your way.

Dream Bigger, Be Present & Be Brave.

Thank you Jess and Ampersand for making these amazing prints – I needed these powerful words.
