Room 101: W Austin

I was in Austin last week scouting venues for SXSW and stayed at the W Austin.

Swanky – yes.  Relaxed – yes.  Residential feel – yes.  Would I stay there again – ABSOLUTELY!

I love W hotels in general and this property was no different.  The common areas are relaxing living rooms, they have two.  It’s bright, comfortable and the staff is super friendly.

The location of the hotel is great, the Second Street District.  Just a block off Lake Austin there are many amazing restaurants, coffee shops and retail stores within walking distance.  The hotel also shares space with Austin City Limits.

I stayed in a room like this one above – a “spectacular room”.  It was so bright, spacious and comfortable.  I was working on this trip – so I was using every plug available around the desk area for all of my electronic devices.  The internet was a bit laggy at times so I had to whip out my hotspot that I travel with.

Above is the WOW Suite Living room.  I’d definitely say WOW – wouldn’t you?

I did make it to the gym twice (YAY! me), but didn’t make it to the pool.  It’s on the same floor as the gym.  I loved the gym, it’s not like your typical hotel gym with 10ft ceilings.  This one has lots of windows with bright natural light as well as really high ceilings.

The meeting space is great and perfect for corporate meetings, social events and weddings.
