A Crazy 11 Days

Friday, April 20, 2012

I haven’t updated the blog in 8 days.  It’s been rather crazy.  We started Spring Break in Arizona on the 7th (ready to spend time with mom, dad, sister & family).  All was going well until Tuesday and we had to admit my dad to the hospital.  He was admitted a month ago and had been at a skilled nursing facility.  He was doing great and was release and then got pneumonia again.  It was really scary seeing how quickly he declined on Tuesday (right in front of our eyes).

My mom is going through her own health issues.  We already knew the week would be filled with doctor appointments as we worked on getting her better.  Early Thursday morning, she wasn’t feeling well and we had to take her to the emergency room.

So we had both parents admitted and 2 doors down from one another.  Rather convenient for us.

The mister and the little mister headed back to California on Saturday morning.  When they left, things were uneventful.

My mom was doing well and was going to be released on Sunday.  On Saturday at 1pm while she was taking a shower, she had a pulmonary embolism.  The doctors and nurses worked so quickly and off to ICU she went.  So much for coming home on Sunday.  My Dad was doing better and was released on Sunday – back to skilled nursing where he went to recoup.  My sister and I had to divide and conquer – get my Dad checked-in to skilled nursing and then come back to the hospital to be there for my mom.

Well, we finally got her home last night.  She was really happy to be home.

This is just a small snippit of our week, so many tears shed, my sister and I kept saying how can we not be empty of tears.  I guess when it’s your family, you just have an endless supply.  One thing we know for sure, the Lord was there guiding my sister and I.  Some of the tests my mom was to have were suppose to be out patient and if she wasn’t in the hospital, things could have turned out much differently.

I took this picture a few weeks ago  and it reminded me of a silver lining.  That’s what I’m doing – looking at the silver lining.

You and your family are in my prayers!
