Last month we were fortunate enough to be invited to explore the exquisite grounds of the Francis Ford Coppola Winery located in the heart of picturesque Alexander Valley. Just 75 miles north of San Francisco, the winery is an entertainment wonderland for all ages!
The property features more than forty wines produced onsite in their state-of-the-art winemaking facility and a restaurant serving up cuisine made to pair perfectly with their wines, all on a property surrounded by sustainably farmed vineyards.
The true jewel of the grounds is the 3,600 square foot pool area. The pool’s vibe has much of the same feeling like you would find at a resort – beautiful view included. After walking through the gate and checking in, guests are directed to the pool area, which includes a long set of cabines {personal changing rooms} lining the back, the pool bar and plush cushioned lounge chairs covered by brightly colored umbrellas. Friendly servers walk around taking food & drink orders, which includes a large array of beer, cocktails and Coppola wines. The {Rosso & Bianco} pool café features appetizers, Panini sandwiches and specialty personal pizzas.
Tip: The famed movie maker has an apartment overlooking the property and frequents the pool for rejuvenating laps. Keep an eye out for him!
The picturesque property also includes four {bocce courts}, an {entertainment pavilion} and a multi-level {movie gallery} featuring a vast collection of authentic Hollywood memorabilia. At the property’s casual restaurant {RUSTIC, Francis’s Favorites}, the focal point of the dining room is an authentic Argentine grill.
Coppola put it best, saying the winery is “a wine wonderland, a park of pleasure where people of all ages can enjoy the best things in life – food, wine, music, dancing, games, swimming and performances of all types. A place to celebrate the love of life.”
We definitely agree with Mr. Coppola — this truly is a summer destination must for everyone!
