I didn’t always have this business: the clients, the e-course, the APP, the super awesome events we plan...
in fact, 17+ years ago I was planning events for Corporate America. (I’ve really been doing it for 26 years.) After having my son, I decided it was time for a change and wanted to turn my dreams into a reality. First it was with Helms Briscoe, a site selection company and then ROAR events. The entrepreneur bug hit me hard.
You see, you could say that my career started when I was a Junior in high school, but I’ve been around events and hotels since I was 5.
My mom was an event planner (so it clearly runs in the family) and my dad owned a Mechanical Engineering company in Hawaii. The skyline of Waikiki hotels – he was part of that growth. Hotel openings were a common family outing for us. But back to my junior year – my headmaster at my high school had selected me to be the Junior Chair of our Annual Children’s Fair, one of the largest fundraisers of the year. Little did I know that just 6 years later, I would be an event planner too.
I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT THE GIRL WHO PLANNED HER HIGH SCHOOL’S CHILDREN’S FAIR FOR 2 YEARS WOULD DECIDE TO BE AN ENTREPRENUER AND START HER OWN EVENT PLANNING COMPANY SOMEDAY.
Right now I’m either having a nespresso or a glass of pinot noir dreaming of ways that I can help companies develop their event programs,
or help aspiring planners grow more in their field or completely geek out on technology
and how we can make more tools for the event industry.
