Since moving to Texas…I’ve been having lots of fun discovering new hotels and the Thompson Dallas is one of them. There is a big difference between sourcing properties and really getting to know the space and the salesperson.
I’m a huge advocate of site visits because you have to really “see” the property vs. pretty pictures on the internet. I thought I’d share some of the favorites that I took – and she is just as pretty as what’s on the internet.
First up the Thompson Dallas. Located in the heart of downtown. From a meeting planner’s perspective, their ballroom is 13,000 square feet of pillarless amazingness (with natural light)! This is unreal. I’ll admit, I was giddy when I walked into the space. The National Ballroom is divisible into 6 rooms and there are an additional 5 smaller breakouts.
The guest rooms feel like you are walking into your bedroom in your home. The attention to detail is great and I love the little decor touches throughout. And you don’t need to worry about moving furniture around to find a plug. They have you covered.
The pool is the perfect place to relax in the heart of the city.
And the Catbird Dallas is where you mix and mingle with a tasty cocktail. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of meetings.
The Details:
Guest Rooms: 219
Meeting Space: 21,000 square feet
Largest Meeting Space: 13,457
Personally, I love the rooms to space ratio of this property.
It’s perfect for sales meetings, smaller user conferences, team meetings, and roadshows.
The space is a blank canvas with large pre-function areas – you can go crazy or you can create something with elegant simplicity.
I haven’t stayed overnight, so I can’t speak to that experience, but if it’s anything like the Thompson Hotels I have stayed at, it won’t disappoint.
